Born to Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria up to the age of seven. Contractor was a seasoned traveler who enjoyed world travels and a variety of civilizations at an extremely young age. She attended boarding school between the ages of 7 until 9 in London. After that the family returned home to Toronto (Canada) which is where they were raised for her entire life. Contractor had a great academic career at the University of Toronto Toronto while also training as the ballerina. She attended an Etobicoke School of the Arts, a specialized public arts high school where she was not just a dancer but also studied theater. At 16 and after more than 10 years of dance Contractor discovered she was looking to take up acting as a profession. As soon as she finished high school, she received an all-inclusive scholarship to the University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed an MA in Theatre, and was also a double major in sociology and psychology. Following a year at University, Contractor went to an open audition for the production Pericles in the highly regarded famous, world-class Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and was offered the lead role. After 92 performances, she received positive reviews. The play was deemed the best production in Canada by critics. Contractor accepted the offer to join Stratford's Conservatory. The Conservatory has only 8 men and four females accepted to a course of 20 weeks in the classical theatre. Contractor's participation in the next season's production was confirmed. She was cast in the role of Hermia from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
